Josh and I wanted a quiet night at home alone on Saturday because we've been running around like crazy and never have time to ourselves. Sooo, we made a huge bed in the living room of all the pillows and blankets in our house and rented a movie. We usually spend hours arguing over which movie to watch but because Josh didn't care, naturally I chose a vampire movie.
Let the Right One In is a Swedish movie about a boy, Oskar, who is bullied at school and spends his nights outside dreaming about ways to stand up for himself. He soon discovers a new girl in the neighborhood, Eli, who of course is a vampire. Long story short, Oskar discovers she is a vampire, she teaches Oskar how to stand up for himself, and Oskar helps her keep her secret. Although this is not your every-day vampire flick, I LOVED it. It was original, horrific, and still somehow innocent. This movie IS Rated R for violence, so let it be known that there is blood.
My recommendation: don't watch the movie with dubbed English. It's tacky and you'll laugh more than anything. Watch it in Swedish and read the subtitles. The trailer is at the bottom of this page.
